Each section was weighted according to specific criteria created by CNBC and AccuPoint.

Factors included in the rankings were: firm is an independent RIA, no employees who are registered representatives of a broker-dealer, no more than 50% of AUM to pooled investment vehicles, no more than 25% of AUM to pension and profit-sharing plans, manages assets for individual clients, no more than 25% of AUM to corporations or other businesses, provides financial planning services, more than 500 financial planning clients.
