Index Funds: The Documentary Film

Seventeen years ago, I embarked on a mission to change the way the world invests by replacing speculation with an education.

I did so because I witnessed firsthand how active management erodes expected returns through excessive fees, increased risks and sheer speculation. I realized that investors who engage in active investing such as stock picking, market timing, fund manager picking and sector rotation, among other behaviors, are really just gambling—plain and simple.

Unfortunately, so many investors are fooled by the misconception that ‘playing the markets’ will get them the greatest return. In reality, this strategy is nothing more than an addiction, one that plays solely on misinformation, fear and greed. I created a 12-step program, and wrote Index Funds: The 12-Step Recovery Program for Active Investors to inform investors about the importance of implementing a passive investing strategy, one that is based on evidence, scientific reasoning and quantitative analysis—a strategy that is in the client’s best interest, not their broker’s.

For about 2 years now, I have been working to bring the book to film in the form of a roughly one-hour documentary. I encourage you to request access to watch the full documentary film using the request form on that page. The information in this film should help the financial futures of all who view it. The information presented may potentially improve your expected returns, it may also improve the quality of your life, by helping you reduce your level of anxiety about the market--especially during market turbulence. You will learn that you can actually invest and relax.

I am very proud of this film and ask that you help spread the word. I’d also like to thank you for your support, your interest and your encouragement as my dedicated team and I continue to press on in our mission to change the way the world invests—by replacing speculation with an education.
